MacBook Air using special SSD’s

Last October 2010, Apple introduced their newest line of MacBook Air. Recent updates of the product was rumored to have been using SSDs made ??by Samsung. Really?

Quoted from AnandTech, the latest 11.6-inch MacBook Air will have minor changes include a faster graphics and a bigger SSD.

The new SSD is very interesting. Because Apple does not use a normal-sized SSD 2.5 inch or 1.8 inch, but use the type mSATA SSDs, or better known as ‘Blade SSDs’.

Based on the news, SSDs are manufactured by Samsung and has a read speed of 250 MB / s and write speed of 220 MB / s. Unfortunately there is no confirmation of this news from Samsung related SSDs in MacBook Air with this SM128C name.





Skype on android risks of malicious program

Skype on Android Users should be extra vigilant. Based on recent findings, VoIP and Video Chat application is vulnerable to malicious programs that can be compromised to steal users’ personal data.

Just imagine if all personal data such as numbers and credit card account passwords stored in Android phone stolen, when opening Skype.

As quoted DailyLOG from Engadget, it turns out malicious programs that infiltrate through the chat log files of Skype. Known malicious programs that infiltrate has SQLite3 database file.

Hopefully Skype parties immediately close the ‘hole’is, by encrypting the file, so as not to be accessible to some people. With the increasing number of users of Android, it seems more and more cyber criminals targeted.





WordPress servers got rooted

WordPressWordPress.com, one of the most popular blog service, experienced security incidents. Some of their servers compromised.

It is spoken by the founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg, in his official blog. “Automattic (the company behind WordPress), so victims of burglary low-level or root in some of our servers,” writes Matt, as quoted DailyLog, Thursday (14/04/2011).

According to him, there is the possibility of any existing data on a server that has successfully accessed by the offender.

“We’re researching and reviewing logs and records the data from it to see the extent to which information is exposed, and we secure the re-used paths,” he said.

Matt estimate the source code that is in the server that has been copied. Although WordPress is Open Source, Matt said there are things in the server of sensitive Automattic code and partners.

Matt’s suggestion for users of WordPress, as he wrote, is just what they had previously suggested. This includes strengthening passwords, use different passwords for every site you use and change the password that is still the same.

“Our investigation is still ongoing and takes time. As I’ve said, we took decisive steps to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he insisted.





Facebook change it’s mobile site

Facebook recently announced upgrades to its mobile site, m.facebook.com. This upgrade integrates a variety of features on the site up mobile for smartphone and a touchscreen device types commonly used touch.facebook.com when accessing Facebook.

Mentioned up as quoted by CNN on Tuesday (05/04/2011), this update will be introduced gradually to the user. So what difference will the new mobile up?

“With the new m.facebook.com, users with a touch screen device of high-end, touch-friendly interface will be more rich. As for ordinary mobile users, this site will look and work better,”said Product Designer Facebook, Lee Byron.

“Later, there would be no difference between m.facebook.com and touch.facebook.com. We present the best version up mobile to your device,” he added.

This step is in addition to updating, are also intended to unify the experience of accessing the Facebook mobile.

“Every time we launch a new feature, we have to build it many times on the code base that is different. To facebook.com, m.facebook.com, touch.facebook.com and native applications,” said Byron.

Mozilla Thunderbird now under Mozilla Messaging Group

Mozilla Thunderbird can certainly hope that equal the success of their brother, Firefox. Therefore they were preparing a new strategy.

So far, Thunderbird email client services are managed by a group called ‘Thunderbird Group’. However, apparently under the group ‘the bird of thunder’ can not financially to building a significant experience.

Well, because that Mozilla also has prepared a backup plan. Thunderbird will eventually become part of Mozilla Lab. There Thunderbird will change its name to the Mozilla Messaging, and not to profit but will focus research center.

He also continued, that in recent years has changed the world wide web. The biggest changes is the use of web for communication and social interaction on the internet. That’s why Mozilla messenging would also jump to the web messaging.
